Newcastle University Sports Centre
BIM Strategy worked successfully with Clugston Construction to win a place on the NEUPC framework, which is a 5 year purchasing consortium between the North East’s five world class universities. As part of the tender, the best submission would be appointed to deliver the first project a £16m sports centre in a live campus setting, with a well structured set of BIM deliverables defined by the client and their BIM advisors.
A BIM Level 2 approach has been taken from the outset of the project and the university are defining and testing their capability to use 3D models and COBie data as an integrated learning exercise supported by the project team. BIM Strategy have played a key role ensuring the structured data sets are verified and validated to support the project outcomes identified in the Employers Information Requirements and have worked with Clugston and the project team to ensure the BIM Execution Plan supports the project objectives.
The 64,000sqft building will include an eight-court sports hall, four squash courts, sport and exercise science labs, a second strength and conditioning room, spin studio and a gym.
