It's worth becoming a Dementia Friend

We recently had the pleasure of a visit from Kathryn Hardwick of the Alzheimer’s Society who came to talk to us about Dementia Friends. This wonderful Programme is aimed at changing people’s perception of dementia, transforming how we think, act and even talk about a pernicious condition which sadly most of us will be touched by at some point in our lives.

Finding out about the ways we can help to make our interaction with dementia sufferers better enables important conversations to be had. Hopefully these result in meaningful actions which then make a genuine difference. One of the most memorable lessons from this presentation is that every positive action counts, no matter how small.

The feedback from our team was that Dementia Friends really helped to demystify the condition and significantly changed their perceptions. Most importantly, they felt it gave them memorable examples of how to be more mindful towards others and give appropriate and meaningful help wherever possible.

We’d strongly encourage everyone to get involved with Dementia Friends. The world will be a better place if we understood it from dementia sufferers’ perspective. If you would like to find out more about how you or your organisation can get involved, please visit
